River Valley Ranch has been thoughtfully designed around the award-winning Jay Morrish Championship Golf Course, the Crystal River, and the Ranch House Swim and Tennis Club. Recreational pursuits of all types can be experienced, even for the most passionate.

One and a half miles of the Crystal River flows through River Valley Ranch, a landscape filed with abundant parks and paths for everyday enjoyment. To preserve our scenic beauty, half of our development is comprised of natural open spaces, recreational parks and a golf course.

History of River Valley Ranch

In 1879, Myron Thompson and his son Alex were among the first settlers in the Crystal River Valley and the town of Carbondale. They established the Thompson Ranch at the junction of the Crystal River and Thompson Creek. Today, we know it as River Valley Ranch, and it retains a distinctive character that combines the character of the ranch and a mountain town.

Our Vision

We envisioned the design of River Valley Ranch as one that preserved the natural surroundings and one that was enriched by the land's ranching heritage. RVR's architectural theme reflects these influences. To achieve a high standard of environmental friendliness requires the use of natural materials and plants that are native to the area, and you will find these throughout RVR.

You will also see deer, coyotes and other wildlife migrating through the Ranch.

Custodial programs have been instituted to protect the Crystal River, the Ranch, the golf course and a designated wildlife sanctuary with a resident American Bald Eagle.
